Summer Book Arts Camp for 2012

Science, Art & Nature:

Mr. DJ’s Summer Seminar

John and Cara Dancy-Jones are pleased to offer a week-long camp in papermaking, printmaking and gardening. John Dancy-Jones, Mr. DJ, conducts the camp in his book arts studios and in the garden and backyard of 528 North Person Street, where he and his family have lived for over 20 years. Cara, who will also be tutoring, provides herb and cooking lessons, origami expertise, and a motherly presence.

Campers will learn to make paper pulp, form sheets, and create pulp paintings.  We will apply our paper products to the making of cards, mini-comics, and a journal.  Printmaking, crafts, and science toys will round out the week.

The camp integrates papermaking and book arts with science and nature, spiced with the urban homesteading that is our new passion. Our chickens, turtle and pond life specimens, and local history walks will add to the fun!  Come join us!
